By the side of each text field there is a button marked with a question mark. After clicking on a button search for the appropriate path. Alternatively, you can double click on a text field to open a "line editor" that enables a path to be conveniently edited - figure 2.

Click the "Save System Paths" button to save the edits.

Potentially there are several preferences to be edited. Because the majority of users work with Windows the default prefs match the paths that will be most commonly found under Windows. If you are using Linux or MacOSX you will have a few other paths, to set, for example,

    Edit->Show Preferences->Languages->Mel
    Edit->Show Preferences->Languages->Tcl

Step 2 - Configure

Open the Rman Tools floating palette

    Tools->Show RenderMan Tool

Choose the Options tab and use to popup to select your preferred renderer - figure 3.

From now on this will be the rendering/shader compiling system that Cutter will use each time it is launched.

Step 3 - Check Configuration

Open the Rman Tools floating palette (Tools > Show RenderMan Tool). Use the Docs menu item to create a RIB document and a SL document.

Use the button at the base of the Rman Tools palette to render the rib file and compile the SL document (both will require saving). A Process Monitor window will report on the success of the compiling and rendering operations.
